Year 5 Earth Science Incursion

Our Year 5 students recently participated in an exciting incursion where they delved into the fascinating natural processes of weathering and erosion.

During the session, students investigated the 'rock cycle' and classified various rock samples, including sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. They engaged in hands-on activities such as observing physical weathering through sand blasting and examining the effects of chemical weathering. The incursion also included investigations into wind and water erosion, sediment deposition, and water absorption by different soil types.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this immersive and educational experience, which has enriched their understanding of the dynamic processes that shape our world.
