Year 1 Excursion: ICMG Meadow Heights Mosque

This past week, our students took a significant step in their Islamic education as they learned how to perform the daily prayers (Salah), one of the core pillars of Islam. In class, students practiced the positions and recitations involved in Salah, understanding both the physical actions and the spiritual meanings behind each step. It was a beautiful experience watching them eagerly learn and grow, guided by Ms Saniya, one of our Primary Islamic Studies teachers.

To deepen this learning experience, the students went on an excursion to ICMG Meadow Heights Mosque. This visit provided them with a real-life setting to practice what they had learned in the classroom. At the mosque, the students had the chance to perform a congregational prayer, led by an imam, allowing them to experience the communal spirit of worship. They also learned about the mosque’s different sections, the etiquette of the prayer space, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness and respect in this sacred environment.

The excursion was not only educational but also meaningful for the students. They left the mosque with a deeper understanding of the importance of prayer in their daily lives, as well as a sense of connection to the larger Muslim community.
