Ilm: Traces of Knowledge Workshops by Sheikh Ishaq

The presence of esteemed Sheikh Ishaq have been the most beneficial for Ilm department. Sheikh Ishaq not only taught students Ilm subjects such as Usul Fiqh, Usul Hadith, Usul Tafsir and Mantiq but also he was running multiple workshops for all Ilm students every Saturday morning.

He covered many aspects of a life of a student of the knowledge, He shared the stories of the great scholars as examples for all. And students were urged to take notes during the workshops.

The 1st workshop was held on 3 February 2024, covering the two main components of Adab of Ilm:

  • Strive and work hard in the path of Allah.
  • Have the desire and the willingness to learn more and more and always asking Allah to increase us in knowledge.

The 2nd workshop was on 10 February 2024, covering Azan and Salah. Sheikh Ishaq commenced the talk with the history of Azan, followed by the method of how to give an azan. He also touched base on the conditions and farai`d of salah.

The 3rd workshop was hedl on 17 February 2024. In this workshop Sheikh Ishaq discussed the method of giving speech and Khutbah. He mentioned the main 3 components of speech which are Muta`alah (search on the topic of the speech), Mushahada (how to connect the speech with the audience, how to make it beneficial) and thirdly, Khulassah (summary of the speech).

A 4th workshop was held in the following week on 24 February 2024 on the Readings of the Quran & the Tajweed. Sheikh Ishaq partially spoke on the Tajweed of the Quran and discussed the main areas of Tajweed such as the pronunciation of letters, the stop signs in the Quran and the rules of the Tajweed. He continued his talk and covered the second part by mentioning the names of the 10 Qiraat of the Quran & 20 Riwayaat.

On 27 March 2024 Sheikh Ishaq gave out the words of wisdom to all our Ilm students, advising them to hold on two things to obtained success in life: Firstly, holding onto the sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.) and secondly, A`mal on what is learnt. He also emphasized on the importance of du'a.

We deeply appreciate the traces of knowledge Sheikh Ishaq have left behind and we make sincere du'a that Allah may enable us to learn the knowledge, practice upon and spread it to others. Ameen!
