Kashmir Black Day 2024

ASC students joined a solemn gathering at the Pakistani Consulate in Melbourne to mark the 77th anniversary of Kashmir Black Day on 27th October 2024. The event honoured the Kashmiri people's resilience in their ongoing struggle for self-determination.

The program opened with a Quran recitation, followed by the Pakistani national anthems. Deputy Consul General Ms Syeda Fatma Hasan Bukhari conveyed messages of support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to the Kashmir cause.

Our students actively participated in the event, demonstrating their dedication to the cause. Yusra Irfan from our Year 10 cohort delivered a stirring speech in Urdu that encapsulated the resilience and determination of the Kashmiri people, while Year 7 student Muneeb Malik addressed the gathering in English, reflecting on the historical context and advocating for the rights of Kashmiris.

The event also featured a presentation by our valued staff member Mr Rana Shahid, who shared significant insights into the historical context of Kashmir, highlighting its rich and diverse heritage. His presentation deepened the audience's understanding of the ongoing challenges faced by the Kashmiri people.

The ceremony was attended by local community leaders and members, who expressed their solidarity and support for the Kashmiri cause. Their presence underscored the importance of collective action and community engagement in raising awareness and advocating for the rights of the Kashmiri people.

The Deputy Consul General Syed Moazzam H. Shah presented certificates to our participating students, recognising their contributions to the event. This observance highlighted the importance of collective action and community engagement in supporting the Kashmiri people's pursuit of peace and justice.
